Plasticity - Art Definition

Is a quality in a work of art where elements of the painting appear to
be three-dimensional e.g figures. Plasticity is achieved through techniques such as chiaroscuro. For example a work of art, be it a painting or a sculpture demonstrates a high degree of plasticity when the figures or the subject is modeled and moulded in such a manner as to give it the appearance of three-dimensionality.
