Mid-Relief Sculpture

Mid-Relief, also known as half-relief or mezzo-rilievo, is less distinguishable as a sculptural technique. Mid-Relief is only where up to half of the subjects project from the ground, in addition none of the elements of the sculpture are undercut or fully disengaged from the background field. Mid-Relief is a happy medium between High-Relief and Low-Relief sculpture, and as a result borrows elements from both of these techniques.
